Wow! Finally, the last two weeks of school. I’m so excited. I can’t wait until summer is here. I have a feeling these next two weeks are going to fly by! I took some rather tedious courses this semester, and I’m just happy that I can say “I survived spring ’11”. I’ve actually learned so much and I feel extremely fortunate for having access to an education unlike it is in other areas of the world. I can’t believe that anyone would take that for granted when we know that Americans have it so good compared to other places. You could be a member of an impoverished emaciated tribe in Africa, whom often has close to absolutely nothing. When you feel like your life is hard and unfair, stop and think about how your problems compare to theirs.
Anyway, I’ve noticed in taking English 101 that at the beginning of the semester it took me a lot longer to write a blog or an essay and now it’s a breeze. But I guess it would become easy after writing so much week after week, right? I thought that I was pretty familiar with MLA format, but I was pretty rusty and there have been some changes to it so I guess it’s always helpful to keep up to date on that sort of thing. I also had never taken an online class before, and I realized that I really like it. Everything is according to your own schedule and although there is sometimes more work to do because you don’t meet in person, I still prefer it over having to drive all the way to school and back. Especially since gas is extremely overpriced right now, (thank God it’s going down).
Despite the heavy work load, I actually enjoyed taking this course because at least it was consistent and you knew what to expect every week. What did you think of English 101? Are you glad it’s almost over? Have any cool plans for summer? I have a couple of things planned this summer one of which is filming an audition tape for Survivor. I’m obsessed with Survivor and they’re casting for the next season so I’m taking it upon myself to audition and you have to submit a three minute video. I’ve come up with some pretty good ideas, and I think that if I really put my mind to it, I have a good chance of getting on. Keep your fingers crossed for me! I also really want to go camping in Oceanside at Camp Pendleton. Also, I’m taking my mom to a concert. I actually bought her the tickets for Mother’s Day but it doesn’t take place until the end of July. Summer is my favorite time of year and you have no idea just how bad I wish I could snap my fingers and skip forward to it! Thankfully, it’s just a couple more days until the long Memorial Day weekend!
I also have found that I am able to do my blogs faster now lol! And yes, two more weeks for school, finally we made it to the end. This class was also my first online class, I had no idea how much work it was going to be. I really enjoyed having the convenience of an online class. It made it easy for me to do my assignments around my other classes and taking care of my nephew. I really do not have many plans for summer. I am just going to continue with my studies. I picked up a couple of classes for summer that will go towards my general education requirements to get my AA, so I will be stuck at school. Your summer sounds much more fun. As far as this class goes, I seem to have found something fun about writing. I never knew that I actually enjoy writing, and I can totally get in to it. I really do not know if I would ever take another online class, as it was a bit more difficult for me to keep up with the assigments. It seems that the online classes have more assignments than the on campus classes. But overall, it was an awesome experience and I would not have it any other way. Jennifer has been a great help. I think if we had a different teacher, I might have dropped out. It made it easier since we could see her in the office as often as we needed to. I also realized I type faster now so that is always a plus.
ReplyDeleteI agree that we do sometimes take advantage of the education system in the U.S. I am one to admit that in high school, I was not so bright and I did not have as much dedication to my future. Three kids later, talk about dedication like crazy. I now wish that I focused more in high school because I am noticing my potential now and I cannot turn back time. The positive thing is that I am back in school and I am doing the best I can and so far it is working for me. I feel more confident for future classes now after taking English 101. The has so far been the hardest class I have taken because it was a lot of work and a lot of writing but it worked out for the better for me because my writing has improved and I am ready to take on other assignments for my classes in the future. I appreciate what I have learned in this class and will take it with me everywhere I go. It's funny but I took a long time to write blogs and do the other assignments also but now I am noticing that writing almost comes naturally and honestly I have no idea what I am going to do this summer without having to write anything. But I am glad that it is over for now and I hope I did enough to pass this class and move on in college.
ReplyDeleteI can believe this semester is almost over! It went by so fast, to me at least. I also find it easier and that I am writing the blogs faster than I did at the beginning of the semester, but like you said after having to write so much throughout the semester it should lol. I have taken an online class before, Economics 102 which is Macroeconomics and found it to be more accessible and more at my pace, so that is why I took this class online. What I found out, however, is that the work load varies apparently from class to class. With my econ class all we did was quizzes and tests so there really was not that much work to do. With this class, oh my god, I seriously thought at times I was going to lose it with all the work that we had to do. But online classes like you said or a lot better than having to go to class because it saves you the hassle of having to drive to school and sitting in a potential boring class. But I also enjoyed the class, it was a unique experience for me to say the least, something I would definitely do again. When classes are over with all I want to do is take a long relaxing vacation and maybe vegetate for a while to relax my brain lol. Good luck with all your finals!!
