SUMMER TIME!!

Woo! The spring ’11 semester is coming to an end! It’s felt short yet long at the same time and I really can’t believe that next week I won’t have all these assignments to do, or a blog to write. This class wasn’t exactly a walk in the park but I definitely enjoyed it. I’m glad that I decided to take English 101 online and I’m even happier that I was lucky enough to have had such a good teacher. Jennifer always made herself available, was always really understanding, and really helped me learn a lot. I feel like my writing skills have improved and writing has become easier in general. I used to have to really get into it and think about what I was going to write before I began an essay, but now it’s like my mind and my hands just know what to do. I’ve enjoyed the blogging assignments the most because we got to read other students’ writing and really got to know each other even though we never met in person. Most online courses are pretty impersonal and down to business so I thought that was pretty unique. I think that we would have had less work to do if we would have met in person every week but I liked that I could work at my own pace and set my own schedule. This course being so awesome has really persuaded me to take other online classes in the future. What did you think about it?

Have any cool plans for summer? I’ll mostly be working Monday through Friday so that’s not too fun but at least I’ll have money to blow (not that I don’t manage to blow the little money I make now). Last summer felt like an eternity; in a good way though, because everyone is so carefree in the summer. That’s probably the one advantage about being a teacher. No one else gets the whole summer off every year. I’m not sure if the positives outweigh the negatives though. Overall, did you enjoy the course? Are you doing well in your other classes? I took Biology 101 with Rainbow this semester and all I can say is, do NOT take his class. Really though, I usually like all of my teachers even if they’re not exactly “fun” or “easy” but that man is something else. So glad yesterday was my last day in there. I’m just praying that I pass because I really need to have good grades in order to get into the Radiological Technology program. I started a semester late so now I’ll have to either wait another year to apply or try to take some courses at College of the Canyons on top of the courses I will be taking at AVC next semester. Talk about stressful! What are you studying at AVC? Are you trying to transfer somewhere? Anyway, it was a pleasure taking this course with all of you and I hope you enjoy your summer!

  1. Hey great job on your blog, I really enjoyed reading it this week. I like that you have so many thing to talk about and all these questions, that is awesome. My blogs are just straight forward just to satisfy the assignment topic because I really do not like writing. I think it is really boring.
I am very excited about the semester coming to end too! I also have to work every day of the week, it sucks, but I like to have money! I had a very different experience than you did in this class, I really did not enjoy any of it. This class made me really stressed out, there was way too much work every week and I feel like I did not have time to do anything else, but focus on this class and the massive amount of work that the teacher gave us. I also heard from someone else that that biology teacher is really tough and I been warned to avoid that class. I also plan on taking classes at AVC next semester. Well I hope you have a really great summer! And good luck with your whole class situation. Again great job on your blog!

  2. I get what you mean! I thought the semester felt like it was going on forever. But now that I look back it wasn’t too long at all. I thought this class was a little challenging but it was well worth it. There was a lot of assignments to complete and it was hard to keep up with things. Especially the blogs because they were hard to remember to do. I feel that my typing skills more than anything have improved a ton. Since all we do is type I wasn’t surprise that I didn’t have to look at the keyboard anymore. I agree that the blogs were a good way to communicate and to learn about the different responses people had about the different topics. It was cool to know what everyone else thought. And it was cool to see things from different perspectives. I think this online course wasn’t difficult but it was time consuming with all the assignments that we had to do. I think it would have more or less been the same if we were to meet in person. I think this course was well worth it and I wouldn’t mind taking another online course again.

  3. I have no interest in taking Biology 101. That has nothing I want. My science is physics. That is my jam. The only reason why I like physics so much is that I love math. I enjoy math. It is extremely easy to me, so naturally I would find physics to be easy. Plus I feel it is more applicable to real life. It is something that I could apply all that I have learned in math in the world. That is something that is important to me when it comes to anything I learn. I always like knowing what it is that I am learning has any significance to my life, besides it just being random knowledge. I have heard about Rainbow, but I never really listened or heard exactly what it was that makes him so bad. The worst teacher I had was Suri or Suresh, something like that. It was a chemistry class. It was ridiculous, but it is done and over with. I just can’t wait till this summer begins. I am due for a long rest. With the end of today I will be free to do what I want, well excluding the responsibilities of work. Still have to have some kind of income in order to keep the things that bill me, and have fun during the summer.
